I’ve known Ashlee for as long as I can remember.  Years ago we went to the same church.  Ashlee’s mom would come over (with Ashlee and her sister, Sam) and babysit us wee Wasses when my parents needed some “alone time”. :)  Ashlee always made everything fun and was so incredibly sweet!  I went to Sunday School class with Chris’ brother and so I knew Chris just from sightings in and around church.  Chris and Ashlee started dating while together in youth group at HEFC (our church at the time) and, 7 years later, they’re engaged and tying the knot in October!!!

Chris and Becky: Engaged!!

I’ve known Becky for as long as I can remember.  Her family went to our old church for awhile and her parents babysat my siblings and I fairly often.  Becky’s Mom led one of our church plays that we kids were in and we stayed overnight at their house once and “helped” Mrs. Parks make chocolate roses (using Hershey Kisses and red plastic wrap :) to take to Mama when my new baby brother, Seth, was born.  The older we got, the less we saw the Parks’ but we still loved to stop by their house and say “hi” whenever we could.    It seems like just yesterday that we were playing dress-up in their shed, having Mrs. Parks read her special books to us (Max Lucado’s Wemmicks being one), and playing “Narnia” with Becky’s brother, Stephen, and sister, Jessie.  Good times!
Anyways, it had been about 2 years since we last saw the Parks’.  My grandparents had gone to a movie earlier this spring and saw Becky and Jessie at the theater.  Becky told them that she was engaged and to put a bug in my ear about doing her wedding pictures.  I was excited but didn’t hear anything from Becky for a few weeks so I almost forgot about it!
Then Becky called one day and said she still wanted me to do her pictures!
I met up with Becky and her fiance, Chris, last week.  We went and took pictures at Chimborazo Park and some other scenic spots in Richmond.  I had a great time!  Chris and Becky are so easy to photograph and they were more than willing to do anything I asked which made my job SUPER easy!  (It doesn’t hurt that they’re one gorgeous couple too!)
The picture on the left is the very first picture I took…told you they were good!  :)
Becky and Chris wanted to take pictures at Chimborazo Park because that is where they shared their first kiss AND got engaged!!  Actually the place where they’re standing in the above pictures is where they had their first kiss!

This place is where Chris proposed.  I got to hear the proposal story from both sides and there was one part that made me laugh…as Chris was getting down on one knee to propose (or maybe he was already on one knee…I don’t remember the exact details), Becky snatched the ring box out of his hand, cutting his proposal short, to see what the ring looked like! :)

I loved the brick, pillar-adorned gazebo at Chimborazo!

Mr. Chris told me that his grandparents have a picture of them kissing right around this area.  So he and Becky wanted to get a picture of them re-creating that photograph with each other!

Love this light!!

Aren’t they a beautiful couple?!!

Nice, Becky!!

I haven’t shot around Richmond before, so it was so much fun looking for great photo spots!  This brick wall covered with ivy was perfect for some pictures!!

Checkin’ out the hottie. :)

Love these!!

Chris and Becky’s rings were beautiful!!  Becky’s ring was just flat out gorgeous and I loved the four words inscribed in Chris’ ring:  God, strength, faith, and honor.

There you have Chris and Becky!  I’m really looking forward to their wedding in August!!

Grant and Courtney: Engaged!!!

One day this past February, we were over at Courtney’s house celebrating her birthday.  We ate some yummy snacks, talked, and played a version of “Hot Potato” in the front yard (in the cold, Feb. weather), and then watched Courtney and Grant (who happens to have the same b-day) open their gifts.  Once all the gifts were opened, there was a little bit of an awkward silence for a few minutes.  And I don’t remember exactly how it started but Courtney soon started out on a game that led her to a note card, then to another.  After going from the front yard to the backyard, into the house, then outside again, over and over again she finally stopped by their T.V.  She found the hidden note, read the rhyming words, and then, when she looked up, Grant was down on one knee.  And he proposed (rhyming the whole time!)!  Her reply was a joking “I don’t know, Grant”, and when everyone laughed, she said “Sure” with a big smile.  They were engaged!!! :)

So, there you have their story!  Here are some of the engagement photos we took last Saturday at Maymont Park.  Enjoy!

This picture just makes me smile:

:)

Love this next one!!

Nothing like some Fall colors!

Aww…Courtney, look at you!

Yep, Court and Grant were sitting on a tree a few feet off the ground!

I’m so glad they decided to get up on this tree because these next two pictures became some of my favorites from the day:

This was totally their idea.  (Honestly, if my photographer asked me to go in this tree, I probably would’ve had my fiance go in there and clean out the spiderwebs/bugs before I would venture inside.  But this was, once again, Court and Grant’s idea so they didn’t even hesitate! :)

 I can’t pass up a chance for a silhouette!!

Such a pretty ring!  (Good job Grant ;)

Look at this tree!!!  Oh, how I love Fall!

Congrats, Courtney and Grant!  I’m really looking forward to your wedding next April!  :)
I pray the Lord continues to guide you two as you search out His will for your lives.

Love ya!

Jon & Erin are Engaged!!!

I have no idea how to start this post…I could tell you about how our family met Mr. Jon (a.k.a. Dowy  to my family) at church one day and how he started coming over for popcorn and a movie every Sunday night (and stayed up til the wee hours of the morning talking to Daddy :)…or how we met Erin at Chick-Fil-A a week or two before Mr. Jon introduced her to us as they began their relationship together.  Or I could tell you about how great these two are, which would take a long, long time.  Or I could tell you that they met at Chick-Fil-A, where Erin works, and after about a year of praying about a potential relationship, Dowy and Erin started seeking the Lord as to whether or not they were meant for each other.  So the months of “courting” began…it has been so fun to watch!  We knew Mr. Jon fairly well but Erin was new to us and, once we met her, we liked her immediately!  The weeks passed by and every time we talked to Erin there always was a huge smile on her face…and whenever Mr. Jon came by that smile got bigger.  After a few months, we all knew what was coming… after all, everyone could see that they were meant for each other!  In mid-September, Dowy proposed to Erin under a pier in the OBX and she said “yes!”  And so the love began.  :)
I was amazingly blessed to be able to take Dowy and Erin’s engagement pictures (my first ever!) 8 days ago at Massanutten Resort.   Our family was planning on going hiking that day so we invited Dowy and Erin along saying “We could get engagement pictures in the mountains!”  They agreed and it worked out great!  Lexi held my extra lens for me and Hannah watched all of my siblings so that they wouldn’t get in the pictures (Daddy and Mama were trying to get convinced to buy a timeshare there).
So, enjoy all of my favorites…and thank you, Erin and Dowy, for entrusting me with your photos!  You guys are too cute! ;)  I can’t wait for March!
[Warning:  Excessive amounts of pictures follow. :)]
This was one of the first pictures I took…and, yes, the grass was that green. :)
Like this one below…so much!
When they asked what else to do, I asked what they wanted and Mr. Jon said “Us walking.  We do that a lot.”

I know I said “You guys are too cute!” at least every 10 minutes…it’s just so true! :-D

 What a beautiful couple!

I think most of the time I took pictures of them they were smiling at each other and it was so absolutely adorable! :)

I really love this next one…
 :)

This was totally their idea and I loved it!!!

Erin and Dowy would work on the “model face” as I took pictures and it always ended in them laughing! :)
 Aww!!

This next one is one of my absolute favorites out of all 200+ photos! :)

I know you all want to see her ring, right?  Here you go:
Isn’t it gorgeous?!!

I love me some silhouettes!

 L.O.V.E. x 10! :)

They perfected the “model look” by the end of the shoot, that’s for sure! :)

And that’s all for you today!  Thanks again, Erin and Dowy, for letting me do your pictures!  May the Lord continue to bless you two as you strive to bring greater glory to Him….right now as an engaged couple but soon as husband and wife!!!!
